Interested in trying yoga for the first time? Returning to the practice after a bit of a hiatus? Or, do you have some experience and want to take a well-rounded class that explores stability and softness within fundamental postures? This class could be for you!
Yoga Foundations is a weekly Wednesday class from 7:30-8:30 PM. We will review and refine the basics of alignment, pranayama (breath-work), and meditation, while also touching upon foundational yoga philosophy. We have mats, blocks, and everything that you need to practice with us. Join us to explore yoga in a laid-back, beginner-friendly environment and (re)familiarize yourself with this ancient self-care/self-discovery practice.
About the Instructor:
Elena is drawn to yoga for its ability to offer the experience of deep grounding and spacious bliss simultaneously. Her teaching style tends toward a slow flow with attention to breath, whole-body integration, and mindful awareness. In her classes you will be guided to attune to the subtle nuances of your experience and to explore the depth and breadth of your awareness. She believes that the full expression of any pose is different from person-to-person, day-to-day. You'll be encouraged to get curious and honor your body and experience as it unfolds in the present moment. Each breath is a fresh inquiry.
Her yoga journey began in 2008 as a student of mindfulness meditation, and shortly thereafter she landed on her mat. She is grateful for the teachings of Embodyoga®, which she studied with Corinne Andrews and Patty Townsend during her 200 hour teacher training at Yoga Center Amherst in 2016. She has also completed 30 hours of training in restorative yoga therapeutics with Jillian Pransky. She currently studies TCTSY, an evidence-based adjunctive treatment for complex trauma, which she plans to offer at Great Falls Yoga in Spring of 2019.
