Free & Fundraiser Friday: Yoga of 12-Step Recovery

On Friday we are raising funds to support an important new class at our studio.

This fall, in partnership with our instructor, Jackie Howard,  we are bringing Yoga of 12-Step Recovery to this community. We are going to make this program freely accessible to all, and are asking for your support this Friday from 6-7pm. Class is donation-based, and all proceeds will go to support our Y12SR fund.

“Yoga of 12-Step Recovery was created as a holistic model to address the physical, mental and spiritual dis-ease of addiction. Informed by the latest research in neuroscience and trauma healing, Y12SR “connects the dots” by combining the somatic approach of yoga with the cognitive approach of the 12-step recovery model – the most well-known addiction recovery program in the world, with millions of active practitioners.

Clinical studies have bolstered a growing recognition of yoga and meditation as effective forms of adjunctive therapy for addiction recovery. Increasingly, mental health professionals are recognizing and adopting Yoga of 12-Step Recovery programming as a form of intervention for relapse prevention.”

We hope you can join us to help support our community through this transformative offering!

About the Instructor: Jackie Howard is a 200 hour certified Akhanda (Holistic) Yoga teacher. She completed her training at Anand Prakash Ashram in Rishikesh India under the loving guidance of her teacher Yogrishi Vishvketu-ji. In addition to her Hatha Yoga training she is also a student of Bhakti Yoga in the Vaisnava tradition. Her approach draws from the idea that yoga is more of a ‘work-in’ than a ‘work-out’. Although a flexible body has many benefits, it’s ultimately the flexibility of the mind & the openness of the heart that will allow us to expand and grow infinitely in the journey of yoga. Jackie feels to be an effective teacher you must also be a dedicated student, she continues her training in the Akhanda, Bhakti & Sivananda traditions hoping to bring herself & students closer to our true nature, which is loving, compassionate & kind.
